Obituary for Patrick Cushing

Patrick Cushing
Sadly Patrick Cushing died with no pain in the arms of his daughter Erica. Patrick was born in Toronto on December 15th 1937. He is the father of Kerry (son Eric), Ted, and Erica (husband John Zandona and sons Zachary and Andrew). His grandsons will miss him and the joy he brought them throughout their childhoods.

Patrick grew up in Sudbury and then went to Toronto to play hockey for St. Mike’s and graduated from high school there. Patrick got a scholarship to play hockey for University of Michigan. These years were some of the favorite in his life. He was a Fraternity brother of Phi Delta Theta. He graduated from University of Michigan and went on to be a safety Engineer at General Motors for many years.

Dad took early retirement and enjoyed at least one and sometimes two rounds of golf per day! His biggest loves were his grandkids, hockey and golf! He was known as “Papa Panther” to grandson Andrew’s hockey team, biggest cheerleader at grandson Zac’s swim meets and prankster at the long term care home he eventually lived at. Grandson Eric once picked a week with grandpa over a trip to Florida. There are so many people that will miss him dearly and feel a loss at his passing.

We hope you are already playing a round of golf up in heaven! We love you!
